Brendon Abram has been practicing Yoga for over ten years. In February 2011, he completed a 200 hour registered yoga training program at Yandara Yoga Institute, and later completed his 500 hour teacher training certification.
He is certified by the Trauma Centre in Boston to teach trauma informed yoga to survivors of PTSD and other emotional trauma. He has the privilege of teaching Mindful Yoga in Trenton to veterans of Canadian Forces operations who are recovering from PTS. Brendon is also trained by the Veterans Yoga Project and has taught yoga to United States Military veterans with PTS.
He was also a member of a joint Queens University/ Royal Military College of Canada study team which undertook the first military sanctioned study (in Canada) on the effects that yoga may have on men and women recovering from exposure to operational trauma. Brendon facilitates Trauma Sensitive Yoga teacher training on a regular basis.
Brendon is the founder of Get Yoga, The Studio Above the Grind which opened in January 2014
Kellie Dearman is a certified yoga teacher (Still Point) with fifteen years of teaching experience (5500+ hours). She has a thriving practice in the Belleville/Trenton area of Eastern Ontario and has a home studio that runs five classes a week, as well as public classes for older adults for the City of Belleville.
Kellie specializes in gentle hatha yoga and incorporates mindfulness, breath awareness, pranayama and meditation into every class she teachers. Her classes are appropriate for all ages and levels as she teaches yoga that is adaptable to every one in the class.
Kellie has taken over 60 hours of Trauma Sensitive Yoga Teacher training, and incorporates key elements of TSY in her general hatha yoga classes.
As an Associate at Trent View Counselling in Trenton, Kellie works with a clinical psychologist to help Canadian Forces veterans affected by PTSD and other stress-related conditions learn how to regulate their mood through yoga and mindfulness practices. Kellie regularly runs yoga retreats at various locations in Ontario and most recently ran a retreat in beautiful Costa Rica. She partners with a number of amazing teachers and has plans to run retreats in Ontario, PEI, Nova Scotia and Costa Rica in the coming year.
